Locality’s low ranking upsets Bangalore leaderK Latha Narasimha Murthy, civic leader of HSR Layout, is foxed why the locality got the backbench status while everything is going well. “Being among the top 20 residential areas is nice, but we are striving to be a model to other localities by coming up with various new ways of approaching the residents for better transparency,” says a beaming Latha. “With a huge population of over 1 lakh voters, only 48,000 voters turned up to vote this time,” says she. Corporator sets priority RWAs to MEET in a weekThe BBMP has announced its budget and for each ward a sum of Rs 3 crore has been allocated initially for development works. Corporator Latha Narasimhamurthy, who represents HSR Layout, which comes under Ward No. 174, is awaiting final allotment from the BBMP, which is expected soon. Speaking to Cityplus about the works she is going to take up, the Corporator said, "Within a week we will come to know the final budget allotment for our ward. Once it is sanctioned, then I will call a meeting of all the RWAs of the seven sectors, the federation office-bearers and the BBMP engineers concerned to decide on the important works to be undertaken . This has been taken up seriously by the BBMP in the HSR Layout, which is a sign of some good development. Towards a clean layout Waste bins distributed after awareness driveThe HSR Layout residents and their Corporator Latha Narasimhamurthy are going all out to make their layout clean and garbage-free. They had launched a campaign recently to create awareness about waste segregation in Agara Village and HSR Layout 4th Sector. The campaign emphasized the need for separating wet and dry kitchen wastes and putting them in two different bins (red and green) and handing them over to garbage collectors. |

Live demonstration is held to educate residents about RWHAs is known to everyone, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has made rainwater harvesting mandatory in upcoming houses of 30 ft by 40 ft and above dimensions and also in existing houses built in 40 ft by 60 ft dimensions. In view of this, the Federation of HSR Layout Residents' Welfare Association took the initiative of educating the residents about RWH by holding a live demonstration at Samarthanam School, Sector 4 on May 2. |
